A typical Lock on the Bourgogne Canal

The Burgogne Canal has 186 locks - mostly very pretty - but after the first 100 or so pretty repetitive!!

Some variety in the way the gates operate - the one above has winch mechanisms. Many lock keepers cottages had very nice gardens and some had exhibitions of their favourite subjects. Many also had produce for sale, including Honey, Wine, Baskets etc.

On-top-of-Puilly-tunnel

On top of Puilly Tunnel. The 3.5 km tunnel has a tree lined track tracing it over the hill it cuts through. If you go to the Crew’s WEB site you can see the trip through the tunnel Grr!
